Tips

bulletProcess
bulletResearch and Planning
bulletStory board is very important
bullet Don’t touch the clay until the story board is complete!
bulletStory board and project visioning sheet is available online
bullet Visioning sheet gives all students in group a job.
bulletMaking the Characters
bulletNeed clay with Plasticine so that it never hardens ( do not use playdough)
bulletPipe cleaners, Styrofoam balls, miscellaneous stuff (have parents clean out closets.)
bulletPut clay on top of a armature (structure made with pipe cleaners and Styrofoam.)
bulletVery thin layer of clay to wrap around structure. (especially head.)
bulletBulk character up with tin foil. Clay will also stick to foil.
bulletLook for mini foil sheets
bulletCut Styrofoam balls in half, they make good feet.
bulletThe setting
bulletOld calendars make wonderful backgrounds
bulletUse cardboard from boxes, etc for a set that will stand up.
bulletPizza boxes work great for this too.
bulletShoe boxes are great for storing kids characters and stuff while not in class.
bulletTaking pictures
bulletSet camera to a resolution size that is not too large (640x480)
bulletNote on Sony Mavica: Multiple disks write over previous pictures.  Set your camera to SERIES.  This will allow picture names to increase.
