In the past month and a half, we have studied comparison and contrast, the U. S. Constitution, and used the computer to create a PowerPoint presentation.
Your next assignment will be to put it all together
and create a multimedia presentation on a Constitutional issue. You might
select Prayer in School, Flag Burning, the Death Penalty, Gun Control or any
other Constitutional issue that will be approved by your parents and me. Please do not select an issue about which
you already have a very strong emotional opinion. Abortion, for example, while
a very important issue in American society, will not be allowed as part of this
project. Make sure you select an issue
that you feel comfortably arguing both sides.
Like your previous Presentation, your project will
need to include the results of a survey of other students, friends, and family
members. You will need to research your
topic and, this time, use a minimum of three different sources. Only one source may be from the
Internet. You must include two
photographs, one original graphic, a bibliography, two short mini essays that
summarize BOTH sides of the issue and includes the history of the debate, and
finally a mini paper including your educated opinion. Make sure that you have, at least, four quotes. One quote should be from the Constitution
itself.
You may again do this project using PowerPoint. If you would like, and if your parents have
given you permission, however, I would like you to consider making your
presentation on a web site at www.homestead.com
or Microsoft’s Front Page 2000. The
Internet is an exciting new tool and I think that it will be a great
opportunity for you to learn how to create your own web pages.
You will need to have five sections.

The rubric for this project is on the back of this
handout. Please take this home and talk
about it with your parents. When ready,
compete the form below to let me know what issue you will be covering and what you
already know about the topic. This form
is worth 10 points and must be completed by the end of the week.
